July Update
We’re now well over half way through winter and we’ve had a busy time during the last few weeks at New Zealanders for Health Research. It has been exciting to receive our first public opinion poll data from our partner, Roy Morgan Research. We’re looking forward to sharing a plethora of insights with you at our upcoming roadshows. We think you’ll be surprised by some of the results – we certainly were. For example, when it comes to government priorities, do you think New Zealanders are more concerned about protecting the environment, reducing crime, improving national infrastructure or funding health research? We’ll tell you what Kiwis think at our upcoming roadshows in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Invitations will be coming out next week, so keep any eye on your inbox!
In the meantime, we’re feeling really optimistic about the future of the health research sector in New Zealand with the significant new funding announcements for research and innovation recently. Does this mean we don’t need to advocate for further increases? Definitely not. At New Zealanders for Health Research we see this changing appetite for investment paving the way for a step change in the way that health research is prioritized and funded in New Zealand.
Help us to change the game for health research in New Zealand by forwarding this newsletter to anyone you know who has an interest in health research so we can grow our community. Together, we create an incredibly powerful voice for health research.
As always, don’t hesitate to contact me if you’ve got any comments, questions or suggestions.
